FIFA WORLD CUP 2010

It was during the 2010 World Cup, the company decided to delve into the world of licensed products.

They attained the rights to produce stationery products using the FIFA World Cup Branding. The brief was to design a range of products that would appeal to both adults and primary school going children.

They decided to brand 2 lines of stationery products and packaging, one range with the FIFA logos, and the other to appeal to children, using the Zakumi mascot.

The brief was to create individual designs for a variety of products as well as unique packaging that would best display the range.
While creating the designs I still had to adhere to strict art guides when creating our products. We were given the basic characters and Pantone guides. We (in the graphics department) were given full autonomy on the look & design of the range. The artworks went through many rigorous approval stages with FIFA, before the manufacturing stage.
Another aspect of this range was not only designing the graphics but also helping source product ideas and then creating spec manufacturing docs for products chosen, as well leasing with the manufacturers on print samples, QCing of products as well as giving the final approval of quality before submitting to Strika for their approval.

Since this range, it has now become a part of my portfolio to create manufacturing spec docs, liaising with the manufacturers, as well as QCing all new products.

Over all it was a successful en-devour and was the beginning of many future licensed product lines to come.
